Spatial distribution of rural workers in family farm in northeast Brazil

Abstract
This article analyzes the institutions devoted to rural territorial development present in the territory of the Pontal do Paranapanema Citizenship (west of São Paulo). With the recognition of so-called territorial approach to development, the federal government, especially since 2003, offers a wide range of programs and strategies designed in the country new territories. From a research project funded by CNPq, with allocation of funds of the Territorial Development Secretariat (SDT / MDA), indicators were constructed to assess the institutional capacity installed in the territories,
especially those of municipal base. Eight indicators were tested in the Pontal do Paranapanema region: collegiate management, organizational capabilities, available institutional services, management tools, conflict resolution mechanisms, institutional infrastructure, community initiatives and participation. The index of institutional capacities is presented at the intermediate level, confirming the existence of institutions devoted to rural development, but with low incidence in rural contexts of the territory.
