National Policy on the Technical Assistance and Agricultural Extension and its Challenges

Abstract
It is debated the National Policy on The Technical Assistance and Agricultural Extension (PNATER) and the challenges of its function. Three key actions are emphasized: update the graduation courses curriculum including the Rural Extension (ER) discipline, adopting as a model the experience developed in the University of Brasilia (UnB); accomplish the established commitment to respect the country's plurality and the diversities in the social, economic, ethnic, cultural and environmental areas, highlighting the difficulties met with the support to quilombolas communities, as indicated by the results from the survey held in the Kalunga Territory, in the northwest of Goiás; scrutinize the analysis on the requirements from The Federation of Agricultural Workers (FETRAF), The National Confederation of Agricultural Workers (CONTAG), The Landless Workers Movement (MST) and The Small Family Farmers Movement (MPA), presented in the seminary recently held regarding the status of art education in ER. Since ER has a very expressive interface with the rural areas or farming communities' education, there is an attempt to establish some interrelationships between its dynamic and the contemporary public school services.
