Abstract
A base para construção deste projeto, foi a pesquisa realizada durante dissertação de mestrado “Entre o céu e a terra: um estudo sobre as religiões no assentamento Bela Vista – Araraquara – SP, defendida no mês de março de 2003, que trata da inserção das igrejas – principalmente as protestantes pentecostais – nos assentamentos de reforma agrária, ampliando o campo de atuação deste fenômeno religioso para além dos espaços urbanos. Será possível compreender a religião como elemento de coesão social, sociabilidade e espaço de surgimento de novas lideranças religiosas? Tal questionamento decorre do fruto de que muitas dessas lideranças são originárias de organizações políticas como por exemplo: cooperativa, associações, grupos representativos frente ao poder público, etc.
