Women's settled in Pontal: changing roles in the struggle for development of land reform

Abstract
This article presents a discussion on the role of women seated in land reform projects in the region of "Pontal do Paranapanema" (West of São Paulo State). Attempts to assess their participation in the productive work and in spaces of political organization and leadership, as indicators of potential transformation in gender relationsbecause they are traditionally male spaces. The paper is the result of the analyzes conducted for several years, from different investigations by staff from the group "Ruralidades, Habitat e Cidadania" (FCT/Unesp) and Nupedor (Uniara). Specifically in this study, it analyzes data collected in 2009 in settlement of "Presidente Venceslau/SP" (in the same region) - focusing on women holders of lots - and in 2011, in research Uniara-INCRA. It also makes use of qualitative data collected through interviews, participatory diagnostics, informal talks and other research activities conducted by staff.
