Abstract
Ao dar boas vindas a todos os congressistas da ALASRU, minhas palavras são de agradecimento e alegria pelo esforço de vocês estarem aqui, de profundo reconhecimento ao trabalho realizado pelo Comitê Executivo local, de respeito aos companheiros da Diretoria, Miguel e Sérgio, de homenagem ao nosso presidente, Arturo que morreu em plena jornada de pesquisa, de afeto e carinho à Silvia Cloquell, que foi nossa vice-presidente, de esperança, no presente e futuro da América Latina. Quero homenagear o Ano Internacional da Agricultura Familiar remetendo-o ao caráter de resistência do campesinato que permeia a história social dos países latino-americanos. Afinal, em cada agricultor familiar, tem um camponês em potencial ou um camponês adormecido, como afirma Marcel Jollivet. É em torno do potencial contestador dos movimentos camponeses, que pretendo valorizar o Ano Internacional da Agricultura Familiar, pelo marco da resistência, da transformação, da perspectiva de mudança social.
