Abstract
O presente artigo pretendeu analisar o conceito de agroecologia dos alunos do primeiro ano do curso de Agronomia da Universidade de Araraquara. Utilizou-se como metodologia a aplicação de questionário. A justificativa para a elaboração do artigo é de que existe muita discussão sobre agroecologia na sociedade contemporânea, mas muito pouco sobre o seu conteúdo – nesse contexto, o conceito de agroecologia dos alunos do primeiro ano se torna relevante, uma vez que eles serão responsáveis pela aplicação de seu conteúdo no mercado de trabalho. Percebeu-se na presente pesquisa que os alunos entram na Universidade sem saber ao certo o que é agroecologia - o que se evidencia é que existe e de forma significativa o conhecimento da palavra, mas não do conceito propriamente dito. É necessário a universidade desenvolver grupos de estudos interdisciplinares nas quais o conceito de agroecologia seja devidamente discutido e debatido e assim fazer jus à sua característica principal, que se pretende universalista.
