The Information Flow Between the House and the Street: Etnography of Knowledge in Bela Vista do Chibarro Settlement in Araraquara Town (State of São Paulo)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper will present an analysis on the transfer process of nonofficial knowledge, myths, folklore, beliefs, and attitudes within the settlements located in the region of Araraquara, attempting to debate the aspects of the daily life that mediate in the symbolic relationships of these people that make great efforts to recover their structure after a stage of internal conflicts generated by partnerships with agro industries. Through the statements from several actors, including children, people responsible for the planning and organizing of festivities, and the pioneers of the settlements, we seek to analyze the importance on the extent of this traditional knowledge diffusion which is transmitted across generations as an identification and resistance method to stay in the land.
Keywords: Rural Settlements; Sociability; Non-official Knowledge.
